Search for Lessons by Standard
Find standards-aligned lessons across every Vizzle content library — Academic Curriculum, Skills Suite, and Vizzle Classic — by searching for a specific standard code or keyword, so you can support district programming and build assignments that map directly to the standards you're required to teach.
1 - Why search by standard?
Vizzle organizes content into three libraries: Academic Curriculum (K–12, standards-aligned, covering the four core subjects), Skills Suite (grade-banded life skills, social skills, and transition/vocational courses), and Vizzle Classic (short practice activities that supplement IEP goals and objectives).
Searching by standard lets you cut across all of that content to answer two common district questions:
- Can I support my district's programming with standards-aligned content? YES!
- How do I find standards-aligned lessons in the Academic Curriculum, Skills Suite, or Vizzle Classic?
Because the Standard filter works the same way in every library, you can start with a grade-level lesson in Academic Curriculum and then switch libraries to find matching practice activities for generalization.
2 - Where to find the Standard filter?
The filter lives on the Lessons page, in the left-hand Filters panel, under a section labeled State Standard (it shows your state's abbreviation for standards and extended standards.
The standards list shown is scoped to the state selected for your account, and updates to match whichever Content Library, Subject, and Grade filters you've already set.
3 - Step-by-step: Filter lessons by standard
- From the top navigation, click Lessons.
- In the Filters panel, under Content Library, choose the library you want to search — start with Academic Curriculum for grade-level standards-aligned lessons.
- Set Subject and check the Grade box you're teaching.
- Scroll down to State Standard and click into the field to open the standards list.
- Type a standard code (like RF.K.1) or a keyword (like vowel sounds) into the search field at the top of the list. The list narrows as you type.
- Check the box next to the standard (or standards — you can select more than one) you want, then click Apply.
Your selected standard appears as a removable check next to your other filters (like Grade).
Use the Topic View or Activity View toggle at the top of the Filters panel to control how filtered results are grouped — by topic or down to individual activities level for more direct alignment. Activity View also lets you select several activities with checkboxes and assign them together.
5 - Assign filtered lessons to students
Once you've found the right content, click Assign next to a topic, unit, or individual activity (or select several in Activity View and click Assign [n] Items).
- Choose students individually, or by Group (L1, L2, L3).
- Set a Start Date and End Date, or check Custom Date for more control.
- Choose a Retake Option if you want students to be able to replay the activity.
- Optionally check Add to My Resources to save it for quick reuse later.
- Click Assign.
6 - Find generalization activities in Vizzle Classic
To find short practice activities tied to the same standard — useful for generalization or IEP goal practice — switch the Content Library to Vizzle Classic. Your Grade and State Standard filters stay applied, so the results update to show Vizzle Classic activities aligned to that standard instead.

This is a fast way to build a well-rounded assignment: a grade-level lesson from Academic Curriculum, plus one or two Vizzle Classic activities on the same standard for repeated practice.
7 - Bonus: tie to a Custom Goal
Right after you send an assignment, Vizzle offers to Add Custom Goals for Enhanced Data Tracking. Type the standard code into the goal field to attach that standard as a tracked goal for the selected student(s), then click Save & Close (or Skip Custom Goals to skip this step).
Once a goal is attached, mastery data for every activity played toward it collects automatically under that student's Tracking tab, so you can monitor progress toward the standard over time without building a separate spreadsheet.
